Police are concerned about the aspects of a sex case in which a 41-year-old man allegedly exposed himself to a woman while also under the influence of drugs and with a loaded .22 firearm within reach.
The incident is alleged to have happened at Henley Lake where the woman had gone walking about 8.45am on Thursday morning.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Garry Wilson said it was extremely concerning for police, on arresting the man, to find a loaded firearm and drugs in the man's car.
Although the man, of Lower Hutt, was not granted name suppression when he appeared before Justice of the Peace Don Adams in Masterton District Court yesterday, the Times-Age is not naming him at this stage for legal reasons.
"The way he was behaving and that he had a loaded .22 within reach was of concern," Mr Wilson said. "It was extremely worrying because he was under the influence of drugs as well."
