'In-class assault' at Auckland high school

Police have been called in after a group of youths armed with a baseball bat allegedly barged into an Auckland high school and beat a student while he was in class, TVNZ news is reporting.

The assault happened yesterday at Lynfield College.

The report claims a 14-year-old boy was attacked in front of his classmates and their teacher, possibly over a dispute about comments on social networking website Bebo.

The report went on to say the victim of the attack, who was not seriously injured, did not turn up for school today.
