Disney has thrown its corporate might behind a high court legal action against an Auckland businessman who allegedly sold thousands of dollars' worth of counterfeit goods from his store.
The media giant accused Terry Chan of breaching copyright by importing and selling fake clothes and accessories featuring Disney characters.
Investigators found 895 tracksuits and 120 caps with Hannah Montana branding, 1615 items of Winnie the Pooh clothing and hundreds of Incredibles wallets and bags.
The goods were allegedly sold at Chan's Asia Pacifics Imports store in Otara between 2005 and 2009.
The owners said Chan sold up last year and they had not seen him since.
Chan was the sole director of two companies, CL Trading and Precision Trading.
