A Chinese student who faced deportation for studying in Auckland while illegally in New Zealand has had her degree conferred.
AUT University earlier told Mengna Wang, 23, she could not graduate because she did not hold a valid student permit, but backed down last week giving her a Bachelor of Business.
AUT spokeswoman Barbara Bilcich said the decision would not set a precedent as it was a "unique" situation.
Miss Wang returned to China in April.
