A big thank you to all those kind enough to donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation's Pink Ribbon day last Friday.
It was the first time I'd been a collector and I must admit the thought of standing on the corner of Ponsonby and Franklin Rds, in pouring rain, shaking my box at passers-by, did not fill me with joy.
I know how stretched people are and I know that charity fatigue is also a real malaise.
So it was with delight that I found people waving notes out of the windows of their cars and pouring money into my bucket without me having to ask.
There were also innovative donators - one man gave me $20 to deliver a bunch of flowers to Prego for some lucky girl.
Admittedly, breasts are an easy sell - what's not to love? - but it was a humbling experience.
