The decision by the RSA to get their Anzac Day poppies made offshore has riled a few old diggers.
Since 1931, the Christchurch RSA has held the contract to produce the nation's poppies. Initially, war veterans were employed to make the symbolic flower and, then later, disabled people .
Now, in a cost-saving measure that the governing body of the RSA says will mean more money for its veterans, an Australian company has won the tender to produce the poppies, using Chinese componentry.
People have said they saw a donation to the RSA as being a donation to the IHC as well and they're appalled by the decision.
Ultimately, the members of the RSA should have the final say - after all it's their day.
And lest we forget, the Aussies and the Chinese were on our side.
