Two beautiful women, two dashing partners and only one will win the coveted title of Dancing With The Stars champion.
Lorraine Downes has defied the experts' predictions and made it to the finals, proving that New Zealanders are people who are prepared to celebrate beauty, rather than vote the pretty ones off early in a fit of pique and malice, as they've done in other countries. And Queen Bea has defied traditional concepts of dancers' physiques to prove that big girls can be more elegant and graceful than cuties half their size.
Both women have put in the effort and work required to become champions, and I'll be torn when it comes to voting time.
Both of them have been my favourites from week one, and it's going to be tough to choose between them.
But in the meantime, thanks to all of those involved in the show. Jason, Candy, the judges and especially the dancers have provided me with an hour of much-needed escapism at the end of a long week, and it shows that there's still a market for good old-fashioned family telly. (It also, I think, proves I'm getting old and I'm only a couple of years away from calling for a return to compulsory military training and bringing back the birch!)
And to our eventual winner, you may not be young, sweet and 17, but enjoy your reign as New Zealand's dancing queen.
