Workers at Fijian Telecom pass over a kava bowl to fellow indigenous Fijians outside the fence surrounding the Telecom building. The Fijian workers held protests calling for the removal of their Fiji Indian managers. Fijians have in the past week used the coup to pursue longstanding grievances across the country. A dam which supplies electricity throughout the country had been shutdown and forty tourists were detained at Turtle Island Resort in the Yasawa islands in northwest Fiji. Landowners took control of the hotel and while the tourists had not been harmed, they were not being allowed to leave.
