KEY POINTS:
When is something going to be done about the Panmure roundabout? It is a nightmare, no one seems to know where to go and near misses occur daily. Anna McKenzie, Panmure.
Work on the road markings is scheduled to start today, actually. The roundabout has the highest crash rate in Auckland, so a remedy is long overdue. Changes include making the two-lane approach from Lagoon Drive permanent. Motorists from Jellicoe Rd intending to exit at the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway will need to keep right as the left-hand lane will be for Queens Rd and Lagoon Drive. The three-lane approach from Queens Rd will become two lanes, and the left-hand lane from Ireland Rd will be for Ellerslie-Panmure Highway only.
What is the point of the small blue signs that have recently appeared on bridges? I assume they are widespread, but the two I know about are on the bridge over the motorway on St Lukes Rd and the bridge over the railway about 1km further on. Who are they aimed at? Peter Calder, Westmere.
The plates each have a unique name and number for asset management purposes, says Auckland City. They identify bridges on overweight or over-dimensional routes through the city, so that out-of-towners will know they are on the right track and not likely to damage other bridges that are not built for large or heavy vehicles.
Is it acceptable for a battery-powered vehicle such as a golf cart or mobility scooter to use the cycleways, if the rider wears a safety helmet and obeys the traffic rules as a cyclist would? John Underwood, Takapuna.
No. Not even if you do obey the rules. Not in Auckland City, anyway.
Is a 50cc scooter allowed to cruise in the bus/bike lanes around Auckland city? What sort of helmet is required? Tom Smith, Auckland.
Yes, you can use the bus lanes, but you need a full motorcycle helmet.
When will the parking beside the Orakei railway station be useable? The pedestrian overbridge is ready and stormwater work has been done.
The aim is to commission the park-and-ride by the end of March.
