Q. Who designed the newish glass bus shelters in the inner city? They don't work. On a hot day it's like sitting in a glasshouse, and when it's wet the rain runs between the roof panels and soaks anyone unfortunate enough to be trying to shelter. - Jewel Laloli, Auckland.
A. The design of the bus shelters was commissioned by Auckland City, and they are managed by Adshel. They are designed to provide reasonable weather protection and to allow for air circulation. The roof panels should not leak, so any faults should be reported to Adshel, whose phone number is on each shelter. Shelters in more exposed places will have eaves fitted to help to keep the rain out.

Q. I live in Ireland Rd, Panmure, which means regularly having to negotiate the Panmure roundabout. It's a shocker. I am sure I follow the lanes correctly, but everyone else is as sure as I am that they are in the correct lane. Is there a council plan to show which lanes to use to get to a particular road from each on-point? - Ben Slater, Panmure.
A. No, there isn't. Auckland City concedes that the roundabout is confusing but has no plans to paint arrows on the lanes or to erect traffic lights. It says safe use of the roundabout is possible if everyone obeys the Road Code. The good(ish) news is that if or when the eastern highway goes ahead, the roundabout will disappear. In the meantime, avoid it if you can.

Q. I have a Stagecoach concession card, which I use on the 199 bus from New Lynn. Sometimes an Urban Express bus does the 199 run and won't accept my card. Is there some way of standardising cards between companies? - Bill Robinson, Titirangi North.
A. Yes. The two companies have created a special pass for the 199 route. It gives the same discount as a monthly Stagecoach pass. Buy it from the driver. Well done, guys.
