KEY POINTS:
The annual madness that is Air New Zealand Fashion Week started on Tuesday with the naming of the designers who will be taking part.
The venue was the Bellini bar at the Auckland Hilton, and the crowd was a sea of New Zealand fashion's who's who, including the essential support team of stylists, media and PR people who help the designers bring their wares to the catwalk.
The well-frocked throng included Zambesi's Liz and Neville Findlay, Huffer's Steve Dunstan, Black magazine's Grant Fell and Rachael Churchward and Stolen Girlfriends Club designers Marc Moore and Luke Harwood. Bellini was also dressed for the occasion, featuring artwork by Maori artist Robyn Kahukiwa, who has joined with Fashion Week in a partnership that will be a first for the event.
High point
The feelgood speech by Kate Sylvester, very State of the Nation, but better dressed.
Low point
The daylight robbery that is parking at Princes Wharf. If they expect us to go there, don't make us pay $20-plus for the privilege.
