KEY POINTS:
Classical music lovers were treated to a night of chivalry at the Auckland Town Hall on Thursday by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
The Age of Chivalry concert featured Don Quixote by Richard Strauss - based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes - and marked the New Zealand debut of Slovenian conductor Marko Letonja. The orchestra also performed works by Wagner and Rachmaninov.
The highlight of the evening however, came in the form of 26 year old cellist Richard Harwood, whom Strad magazine recently described as "the greatest young cello talent since Jaqueline du Pre."
Harwood, who flew to Auckland from Britain especially for the concert, said he was delighted to be back in New Zealand, having toured the country when he was just 13.
