KEY POINTS:
The opening of the Lonely Dog exhibition was heald at Old Sofrana House in Customs St, downtown Auckland on Wednesday night.
What started as Queenstown artist Ivan Clarke painting pictures for his children about their fmaily dog grew into a collection of paintings, drawings, bronze sculptures and ornate books - all based on the part-dog, part-human character of Lonely Dog and the imaginary world of Alveridgea. Other characters on display include Bronsom, leader of the Bronson Howlers motocycle gang, Alveridge County Orphanage headmaster Rolph Flannegan and felin fashionista Celia Creme.
The hand sculpted bronzes are a collaboration between Clarke and Weta Workshop's Oscar winner Richard Taylor.
The exhibition was open over the weekend from 10am to 6pm.
