Devonport-born band The Checks returned from their London vase for two sold out shows at venue 4:20 on Auckland's K Road.
The five piece band have a loyal following and some of the young crowd showed it by wearing tartan.
The band have increased their following in New Zealand since the release of their 2005 EP What You Heard but after a year of isolation in Britain, they welcomed the opotunity to let rip in their home town.
The Checks supported REM in New Zealand after the band heard one of their songs on a compilation CD. They also toured with Oasis and the Hives and were chosen for the NME New Music tour in 2005.
The band signed to UK independent label Full Time Hobby last year/
Recently they've been on tour supporting Australian rock band Jet, and headlined a series of shows around Britain last month.
The Checks are Ed Knowles (vocals), Sven Peterson (guitar), Karel Chabera junior (bass), Callum Martin (guitar/vocals) and Jacob Moore (drums/vocals). They're managed by Alan Pettersen (Sven's dad) and Phil Moore (Jacob's dad).
Their debut album, recorded in London, is due out in August.
