In the first of a four-part series, actor and musician Idris Elba begins an epic road trip from London to Berlin while testing the class-leading fuel economy and technology credentials of the new Jaguar XE.
Starting his journey at the National Youth Music Theatre where his own acting career began,Idris auditions young hopefuls before taking to the wheel of a Jaguar XE 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel for a 1207 kilometre journey across four countries in three days in challenging winter conditions to deliver the XE to its German launch and DJ at a special pop-up party in Berlin.
The XE was first revealed in a lavish ceremony in London last September and goes on sale in New Zealand in the first half of this year.
Aimed at competing with the BMW 3 Series market, the high-performance S model generates 250kW and 450Nm of torque at the top of the range.
The high-revving 3L V6 engine is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift controls. This helps to accelerate the XE to 0-100kph in just 4.9 seconds, the XE S has an electronically-limited maximum speed of 250kph.
