Icy weather not sign of things to come

The icy conditions that blasted over much of the country at Anzac weekend did not herald the start of a long, cold winter, according to forecasters.

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research is predicting a mild start to the winter, with more westerlies and northwesterlies than normal and above-average sea temperatures.
