Icy road danger in south

Police have warned that severe ice has created dangerous driving conditions on roads around the lower South Island this morning.

Inspector John Doherty said there were reports of ice on state highways in Central Otago and Southland.

Conditions were particularly bad between Gore and Alexandra, where drizzle had frozen on the roads, Mr Doherty said.
