AUCKLAND CITY
Two tourists were left with only the clothes they were wearing when thieves stole their van containing all their possessions and money.
Yuwa Aghedo, a 25-year-old from London, and her 28-year-old Danish boyfriend, Peter Bjerrum, are asking the public to help in finding their belongings.
The couple parked their white Nissan light van, registration number SC1380, in Mercury Lane, off Karangahape Rd, overnight last Friday about 9.30 pm. They went nightclubbing and returned about 2 am to find the van stolen.
It contained all their clothes, passports and money, credit cards and Christmas presents.
The theft ruined a planned trip to the Coromandel for Christmas and has left them stranded in Auckland. Anyone who sees the van or who can help them get their possessions back should contact Auckland Central police on (09) 379-4240.

HAMILTON
A man was attacked with a piece of wood when he caught two men trying to enter his house in Somerset St, Hamilton.
The victim, in his mid-40s, got out of bed about 1.30 am on Wednesday to get some asthma medication.
He saw a man trying to climb through the second-storey window into his lounge.
He yelled at the intruder, who fled, but was then attacked with a piece of wood by another man already in the room.
The victim was repeatedly struck across the head until the piece of wood broke. He was then kicked in the body and face before his attacker fled out the window.
Neighbours saw the two men running north along Seddon Rd.
The victim was taken to Waikato Hospital, where he received stitches for cuts to his head. He also suffered bruises to his ribs and face.
The burglars left with only a packet of cigarettes.
Detective Sergeant Greg Nicholls said one of the men was seen running with a limp. He was 165cm to 170cm, aged 18 to 20, of medium build and was wearing a black T-shirt and dark trousers.
The second man was of similar height and build but witnesses could not make out any other details.
Detective Sergeant Nicholls urged anyone with information to contact West Hamilton police on (07) 846-6477.
