KEY POINTS:
Brooke Shields' time has come again. Well, the spirit of her ample brows at least. Strong, sculpted eyebrows complete with well-defined arches are serious fashion statements this season. And it costs nothing to grow them. Then, it's simply a matter of grooming.
1. Bobbi Brown Brow Kit Sable and Mahogany
$90
This is practically "brows r us". There are two agreeable powder colours for filling in the bits where your brows are a bit thin, a brush to do the job, and a pair of minuscule tweezers - for emergency stragglers only. Too small for a full deforestation.
From selected department stores.
2. Clarins Retractable Brow Definer 02
$45 for .18g
This has the brush at one end to tame brows, and the retractable brow pencil at the other to give a long-lasting, natural-looking brow. It never needs sharpening, either - handy.
From selected department stores and pharmacies.
3. Lancome Le Crayon Sourcils Brun
$36 for 1g
The debate rages over whether it's best to use pencil or powder to fill in brows. Whatever's easiest really. This pencil is jolly good. At one end it has a brush to get them in order, and the pencil is at the other.
From selected department stores and pharmacies.
4. M.A.C Brow Shader Blonde Buttery/Taupe
$36 for 4.2g
The clever little pull-out compact has a warm taupe and a light pinky beige that work together to give near to perfect brows. The darker colour fills, and the lighter shade has a fine sheer pearl that highlights around the brow bone. Natural colours.
From Smith & Caughey's Newmarket, and M.A.C Chancery and St Lukes.
5. Tweezerman Slant Tweezers
$48
These mean business. The award-winning tweezers are the choice of makeup artists for good reason - they grab the hair they're homing in on almost every time. Relentless. We're not suggesting you pluck your eyebrows into oblivion, but those stray hairs that prevent perfectly groomed brows need to go.
