Max the mastiff cross hasn't had it easy - he is one of 429 animals the SPCA saved this year from cruelty and neglect.
The 10-month-old pup was taken from his owner because he was starving and had no shelter. Max is still very playful and needs an owner who has the time to train him.
"He's a real sweetheart," says Kathryn Sutton from the SPCA. "I think he has been overlooked because he's brindle [black and tan] but his coat is really soft."
Because of his history, Max doesn't like a rough touch, so would be better suited to a family with older children.
If you would like to adopt Max or another animal in need, contact your local SPCA.
Max's Village ID is 102866.
