The 18-year-old who fell from a central Auckland car parking building denies she had taken Ecstasy - she was just drunk.
The teenage girl, who was badly injured after falling two storeys from a Tournament building in Albert St, is making a speedy recovery and expects to be released from hospital next week. She has had surgery for fractured vertebrae.
The Devonport woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said she had been drinking for several hours before the fall and could not remember much about it.
On Tuesday her mother told the New Zealand Herald she had taken Ecstasy.
She said she had returned to the car parking building after a night out at bars with friends.
She became separated from a friend and fell while trying to find them but denies taking Ecstasy.
"I possibly had too much to drink but that was all that was in my system. The only rehab I will be doing will be to get over my injuries.
"I kind of remember being in the ambulance, they give you nox [nitrous oxide]. But I don't remember the impact of the fall. No one else was around when it happened."
The woman emphasised that the fall was accidental.
She said: "Teenagers are teenagers, everybody is the same. I think the majority of teenagers like to drink on a night out."
St John team manager Olive Taylor said they were called to the building about 3am on August 5 where they found the girl lying in the road.
"Police told us that the female possibly fell after climbing around the car park."
The girl said: "I am absolutely fine. I'm still in a little bit of pain but when I have my friends around it makes me happy.
"I'm not going to be spending too much time at parties any more."
She had 60 visitors. "I'm definitely going back to uni but I might have to do a few correspondence courses first."
