Hyundai owners in New Zealand may not realise it, but their cars are ready to roll on the Government's moves to alternative fuels.
Every model in the Hyundai range will run perfectly on the possible fuel blends put forward by Energy Minister Pete Hodgson, says the carmaker.
Although no final decisions have been made, blends of up to 5 per cent ethanol in petrol and 3 per cent biodiesel in diesel are on the cards.
"Every Hyundai will handle the transition to these levels and beyond without modification and without any effect on reliability," said Hyundai Automotive NZ general manager Philip Eustace.
"Simply, the owner uses the blended fuel in place of the current fuel, and forgets about it.
"That, of course, is excellent future-proofing for current owners: whenever the alternative fuels are introduced, today's Hyundai vehicles will accept them."
Hyundai ran its small Getz hatchback on a mix of ethanol and petrol in last year's EnergyWise Rally.
