KEY POINTS:
This Indian-built Hyundai i10 could come to New Zealand next year.
Surprisingly roomy, and peppy enough around town, the 1.1-litre variant cruised happily at motorway speeds and handled competently for a city runabout.
Hyundai NZ executive director Philip Eustace says he won't import the car unless he can include the 55kW/116Nm 1.2-litre engine, ESP stability control, ABS, four airbags and air conditioning, and still price it competitively.
And that's is something which will depend on exchange rates in the coming months.
The i10 is built only in India, which exports the wee car to Europe.
The developing nation also manufactures the larger i20, which Eustace expects to be popular in New Zealand when it slots into the range above the Getz in April-May next year.
