Hutt ski area opened to perfect conditions yesterday, much to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
After 48 hours of continuous snowmaking, boosting the week's snowfall, the mountain opened with an average 30cm to 35cm base.
Ski area manager David Wilson said it was great to finally have the skifield open after delays due to a lack of snow.
Around 300 staff got to work on the mountain yesterday and people were lining up to be the first on the quad lift for the 2003 ski season when it officially kicked off at 9am.
