Hurt tramper flown from park

An injured 48-year-old tramper and her companion were rescued from Kaimanawa Forest Park yesterday morning.

The woman injured her lower leg on Saturday and the couple spent the night at Waipakihi Hut.

Yesterday morning her partner tramped to the top of the ranges so he could get cellphone coverage to call for help. The Lion Foundation rescue helicopter flew them both to Taupo Hospital.
