Farhat Buksh, the Auckland teenager struck by a falling pole during a police chase on Friday, remained in a critical condition in the Starship last night.
The 13-year-old had not regained consciousness so the extent of his head injuries remained unclear, said his grandmother Nisha Ali.
Mrs Ali, who spent most of the weekend at the hospital praying, said all she wanted was to hear Farhat's voice again.
The crash happened while an unmarked police car was chasing a driver who had refused to stop at an alcohol checkpoint.
