Wellington Hurricanes fans will be able to get up close and personal with their favourite players in Masterton over the next two days.
The Super 15 franchise, which includes Wairarapa-Bush, are preparing for their pre-season fixture with the Crusaders at a sold-out Mangatainoka on Saturday and their one-hour training session at Memorial Park today, starting at 4.30pm, will be open to the public. Players including All Blacks Conrad Smith, Victor Vito and Cory Jane will be available to sign autographs.
A "show your colours" competition requires fans to come along dressed in yellow and black. The top five will receive spot prizes containing Hurricanes "goodies".
Tomorrow will see the Hurricanes squad helping out with the Kids Kai Time charity project at the Genesis Recreation Centre between 7.45am and 8.45am. This is an initiative to ensure children eat a good breakfast and take a healthy lunch to school.
Saturday's match with Crusaders - the most successful franchise in Super 15 history - is already a sell-out with more than 8000 fans set to converge on the Mangatainoka farm property where the action will take place.
