Save A hunter was trapped for five hours after breaking his ankle in a remote Bay of Plenty forest this morning.
The hunter fell in the Waioeka Forest Park around 6am and his partner had to walk for several hours to get phone coverage, and call for help.

Rescue Helicopter winched a paramedic down to the hunter, and then flew him to hospital for further treatment.
The Rescue Helicopter crew said if the hunting party had had a personal locator transmitter, they could have rescued the man a lot sooner.
