A hunter who fatally shot Lower Hutt school teacher Rosemary Ives has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Andrew Mears, a 25-year-old motor trimmer from Hamilton, appeared in Taupo District Court this morning and was remanded on bail to reappear at the High Court in Rotorua on February 2.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Mears fatally shot Ms Ives at a campsite south of Turangi on October 22.
He had admitted an initial charge of carelessly using a firearm causing death when he appeared at the court on November 3.
Judge Phillip Cooper accepted the guilty plea from counsel Roger Laybourn and remanded Mears on bail until February 2.
