A hunter who went missing in the Coromandel State Forest Park has been found.
Search and rescue teams were preparing to hunker down in the bush, near Hikutaia, before the man walked out this evening.
Police earlier said the man was an experienced hunter and was in an area he knew. He also had warm clothing.
It was originally believed the man had entered the bush on Thursday and had not come out since, but a police spokesman said he re-entered the bush on Friday after his dogs went missing the day before.
"He has gone in on Thursday for a look, come out then gone back in on Friday," he said.
