A hunter has died after falling more than 10m onto rocks from a cable bridge near Hanmer Springs.
The Westpac rescue helicopter and police rescue staff were called to the Acheron River area after the accident was reported about 1pm today.
Police said the hunter fell 10-18m from a cable while attempting to cross the river. He landed on the rocks below.
The man was found dead when rescue staff arrived this afternoon.
Police were notifying the man's family with the help of victim support staff.
