KEY POINTS:
HASTINGS - A Hawke's Bay hunter accused of accidentally shooting dead his daughter's boyfriend during a hunting trip has appeared in Napier District Court.
Garth Porter, of Taradale, Napier, faces a charge of recklessly use of a firearm causing the death of 18-year-old Aron Timms.
Porter allegedly shot Mr Timms after mistaking him for a deer while the pair hunting in the Tarawera region, northwest of Napier, in March.
Mr Timms, also from Taradale, died instantly from a chest wound
Porter was remanded for a pre-depositions hearing on June 4.
