The search for missing Dutch tourist Ken Boogers has been suspended.
The 26-year-old man has been missing since last Saturday when he set off on a walk on the Pillar Point track between Wharariki and Puponga in Golden Bay.
Despite the official search being on hold, Mr Boogers' parents and members of the Golden Bay community and local police would be searching the area today.
Search coordinator Sergeant Michael Fitzsimons said the area of interest had been extensively searched over the past week and all available assets, including dogs, helicopters and the Navy hand been utilised.
Mr Fitzsimons said police were grateful to the time and effort put in over the week by search and rescue volunteers.
