Up to 70 Search and Rescue staff will be involved in the search for missing Christchurch man Gary Elliot this morning.
The 48 year old was last seen yesterday morning and his vehicle was found in the Bottle Lake Plantation car park.
Police said he could be in the nearby forest and concerns were growing for his safety.
Search and Rescue staff scoured the area until 10.30pm yesterday and the search resumed at first-light today.Constable Shane Warman said up to 70 staff, and probably also a helicopter, would be involved in the search around Bottle Lake, just north of Christchurch, today.
Elliot was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey polar fleece and blue sneakers with white trim.
