Police are hunting a man found in an elderly woman's Hastings home yesterday.
The occupant was walking back into her house in Lyndon Rd West about 11.30am when she confronted the intruder in her kitchen. After a brief struggle, the man ran off.
Police said the woman was not harmed, but was shaken.
The man was described as Maori, between his late 20s and early 30s, with very short black hair.
He was clean shaven, approximately 1.82m tall, of medium build, wearing a distinctive knitted light brown jersey with cream coloured "blotches" on it.
When confronted, the man told the woman he had two children, police said.
