The Chinese hunger strikers camped at Auckland's Aotea Square to protest their exclusion from an overstayer's amnesty say support from the public has been excellent.
They are in their fifth day of the vigil, and despite two of the 40-strong group members being taken to hospital for observation yesterday, are determined to stay.
Passerbys are donating money in support, and spokesman Xiao (Shao) Li (Lee) says they're very grateful.
The refugees are trying to convince the Government to let them stay in New Zealand because of problems they would face if they had to return to their native country.
