Winds gusting to 120kmh have cut power to hundreds on the Aurora Energy network in parts of Dunedin this afternoon.
Delta marketing and communications manager Gary Johnson said power was out to 380 customers on the Otago Peninsula from Harwood to Taiaroa Head at 4.30pm, and there were several isolated outages for individual customers in Dunedin caused by damage to service lines.
Customers should be ready for the possibility of power outages as the severe weather continued, he warned.
Those wanting to report downed power lines should call Delta on 0800 433 582.
To report a loss of power, they should contact their electricity retailer.
