Hundreds of Auckland-bound passengers have been delayed overnight in China after a fault with the brakes on an Air New Zealand Dreamliner aircraft.
The codeshare flight - NZ288 - was scheduled to leave Shanghai at 2pm on Friday (local time). It is now expected to depart at 10.30am local time today (3.30pm New Zealand time) and arrive in Auckland tomorrow at 2.50am.
The flight was delayed due to a brake electronics fault, an Air New Zealand spokeswoman said.
"Boarding had not commenced when the issue was identified and passengers were kept well informed. All passengers have been accommodated and the flight is due to depart at 10.30am local time today."
Air New Zealand has five 302-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in operation and seven on order.
