A protest rally against controversial water restrictions has begun - with tractors from Hastings, cars from Napier, and walkers from Awatoto converging on roads around Hawke's Bay.
With tractors, agricultural machines, and placards, hundreds turned out across three assembly sites in Hastings, Napier, and Awatoto, and have begun making their way to Clive.
The Water Conservation Order (WCO) - applied for by six groups - would restrict and prohibit water taken from the Ngaruroro River, and 7km of the Clive River, to protect and preserve its "outstanding values".
Concern over the impacts of such restrictions has led people from a wide number of backgrounds - including local businesses, recreational bodies, and the primary sector - to march in the three simultaneous rallies against the WCO.
All will converge at Clive's Farndon Park for speeches about 1.15pm.
