A senior Reserve Bank manager who resigned after another person was appointed to his job has failed to win a claim of unjustified dismissal.
Richard Howe, who resigned in December after 21 years with the bank, took a personal grievance case to the Employment Relations Authority claiming $114,000 compensation for lost salary and humiliation.
His major claims were dismissed, but authority member Denis Asher awarded him $4000 for humiliation, saying the bank breached its obligations to consult him.
Mr Howe was upset and claimed he had been demoted without justification when a more senior staff member was appointed to a project manager role he was performing.
Mr Asher said consultation would have given the bank an opportunity to alleviate and address Mr Howe's concerns.
