Pig hunters have found the remains of a body in the Waitakere Ranges.
Waitemata police spokesman Kevin Loughlin said Waitakere CIB were in the Waitakere Ranges where the decomposed remains were discovered yesterday.
The hunters alerted police about 5.10pm after the body was fond by a member of the group in dense bush near Arataki Information Centre, on Scenic Drive.
A police spokesman said they were completing a forensic examination at the scene but there was good cause to believe there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
A post mortem examination would be held today to determine the gender of the person and cause of death.
