Former Carterton Events Centre Trust chairman John Greenwood has been named as the supreme winner in the Charles Rooking Carter Community Awards, held on Saturday evening at the centre.
The annual awards were created by the Carterton District Council in 1994 to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the volunteer work, business innovation and achievements of members within the community.
More than 200 guests attended the awards dinner, which included four new category awards.
Adele Pentony-Graham, awarded the Voluntary Community Service Award for her years of historical research, said it was a wonderful night at the centre.
"Met with a glass of bubbly," she said.
