Human bones at Whangaparaoa a century old

Skeletal remains have been found at an historical site at Whangaparaoa.
Three archaeologists working on the site at The Anchorage, Gulf Harbour, called police around 7pm yesterday after finding the human bones.
The site had previously been identified as having historical significance and it was estimated the bones were more
than 100 years old, police said.
The area was closed overnight and local iwi had been informed.
Police were at the scene but believed the remains were historical.
