A large amount of human blood has been discovered behind a church in Hamilton.
Police are now investigating whether or not a serious assault may have taken place, although they have been unable to identify a victim.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Mortimore said police were called to the Activate Church, in Bisley Rd, Hamilton East about 3.30pm yesterday.
It has since been established that the blood was there at 11am when the church was used by a group for a function, Mr Mortimore said.
"The scene and presence of blood is indicative of a serious assault, and police are appealing for any information that will assist in identifying a potential victim, or suspicious activity in and around the area.
