Auckland Council is sifting through 22,700 comments on its first regional rule book for growth.
Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse said feedback came in forms, emails and letters as well as 6540 comments and posts on social media and the Shape Auckland website. Mrs Hulse said the numbers showed interest in being involved at an early stage of the draft Unitary Plan.
A month of work reviewing the submissions would show what changes were needed.
Mrs Hulse said the plan was due to be notified later this year when formal consultation would start.
Unitary Plan manager John Duguid said lower building heights, tighter controls on developers and giving the public the right to object to apartment buildings were among changes being considered for suburbs.
