On Sunday the 5th of June the men played a par round and Peter Hudson arrived in +6 followed by Trevor Hawkins +5 and Graeme Kerr +3
Twos were scored by George Kirk, Brian Skleaners,Doug Clark,Peter Bain and Bill Crook. Ladies day on Wednesday 8th June was was L.G.U and putting.
In the silver division with 94-19-75 was Diana Donald followed by Mariana McDermott 93-17-76 and June Sugrue 95-17-78. In the Bronze division with 97-23-74 was Jane Cook followed by Mary Desbonets 106-31-74 and Jo Brown 107-32-75 and Jean Laing 106-31-75.
The putting was won by Larraine Nix on a countback from Jean Laing and Adele Cairns all with 30 putts.
The Pukemanu nearest the pin was taken out by Gail Freeman.
There were 21 ladies playing 9 hole golf and it was a nett competion. First was Elaine Howe with 35, Rachel Colton, Honor Clark and Anne Parkinson were all on 36 and it was Rachel who won on the countback. . Rachel also took out the nearest the pin on the par 3 8th hole. Denise Sandal was the closest to the pin on number 16.
Beautiful sunny conditions prevailed for the National Party Tournament on Friday and local knowledge showed through in the results.
Craig Colton played steady golf to win the mens section with 37 stableford points, followed by Michael Tosswill and Martin Napier.Diana Donald won the ladies section with 35 points followed by Jenny Wilkie and Robyn Guildford. Jenny Wilkie also won the longest drive and nearest the pin. On Saturday 11th June Ted Peacock came in with 43 points and Ash Reed had 40 points. Twos were scored by Derek Stevens and Richard Dean. Sunday saw the playing of the Ngahau Trophy in inclement weather. This trophy has been played for 33 years and is played by club administrators,staff and life members. . . The Trophy was donated by our wonderful June Hume and the late Guy Hume. . June continues to play 18 holes every week in all weather conditions. . In conjunction with th Ngahau Trophy the Grandmas and Grandads trophies were played for and the beautiful walking sticks went to Grandma Liz Tait and Granddad Wayne Phelps. . An interesting aside was the feat of Wayne Phelps beating his brother Lance off hte stick for the first time EVER -a 73 to a 74. The club competion saw Wayne Phelps with 43 points,Bob Goodley, Craig Colton and Matt Thompson on 37 points, followed by Trevor Hawkins and Peter Hudson on 34 points.
