The man charged in connection with the crash that claimed the life of South Canterbury Finance founder Allan Hubbard can now be named.
Andrew John Earl, 40, of Milton, Otago has not sought continued suppression of his name and is to appear at a status hearing on April 24.
Earl is charged with careless driving causing the death of Allan James Hubbard, 83, and careless driving causing injury to Mr Hubbard's wife, Jean, 82, on State Highway 1, at Hilderthorpe on September 2 last year.
Earl was not present when the matter was dealt with by registrar's adjournment in the Dunedin District Court this morning. Through counsel John Westgate, he indicated he was pleading not guilty.
