Backing the third-places by Kendall and McIntosh, spearheading the yachting efforts, were a fifth placing for Rod Davis and his Soling crew, a fifth for Chris Dickson and Glen Sowry in the Tornado and a seventh for Simon Cooke and Peter Nicholas in the 470.
Sarah Ulmer finished fourth in cycling's 3000m individual pursuit and eighth in the points race.
Debutante weightlifter Olivia Baker finished a creditable eighth.
In Atlanta in 1996, New Zealand won three gold medals, two silver and a bronze. In Barcelona four years earlier, they won one gold, four silver and five bronze medals.
