A series of briefings on what is being done to make Wellington better prepared for an earthquake will role around the city starting next week.
The talks from GNS Science and Wellington City Council will discuss the preparedness of Wellington in an earthquake, including the work planned to improve the city's infrastructure.
Councillor Iona Pannett said about 70 per cent of assessments on commercial and apartment complexes, required under the Council's Earthquake Prone Buildings Policy, had been completed.
By 2025 all high priority buildings requiring strengthening would have been strengthened or demolished, she said.
GNS will talk about the earthquake risk to the city, what has been learnt from previous earthquakes, and what has been learnt since the Christchurch quakes.
