KEY POINTS:
Police in Christchurch are seeking witnesses after a suburban house was set alight in an arson attack at the weekend.
Fires were deliberately lit in two bedrooms at the unoccupied Garreg Rd, Bryndwr, house about 2am on Saturday.
Detective Peter McKenzie said a boat and vehicle at the property were also extensively damaged in the blaze.
Mr McKenzie said a 29-year-old man was allowed interim name suppression when he appeared in Christchurch District Court yesterday charged with arson and burglary.
Police wanted to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or had information about the incident.
